Improving Bus Transport Operation and Infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
The project included reviewing existing bus terminals and developing design templates for different bus terminal categories (A, B and C) for Himachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). It also included development of four bus terminal designs for Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). Additionally, the tasks involved developing a long-range annual resource requirement plan for HRTC. The key outputs of this project were design development of Dwarka Bus Terminal, Visakhapatnam for APSRTC (2.74 Ha). The tasks undertaken involved: evaluation of shortcomings of existing bus infrastructure, transportation surveys and study of identified sites, design brief development and planning of sites, alternative conceptual design proposals for Bus terminal sites, finalization of Best suited alternative concept option after discussion with stakeholders, detailed design and review of finalized option, multimodal transport planning and design in the catchment area in the context of the proposed redevelopment plan of the bus terminus.
